YNDC has completed the renovation of 3711 Glenwood Avenue. The historic fourplex, constructed in 1926, has been vacant for nearly twenty years. YNDC acquired the property in winter 2022 and has completed the renovation. The building has four one-bedroom apartment units that are for rent for $600 per month.

On Tuesday, January 3, the Western Reserve Health Foundation, a supporting organization of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, awarded a $60,000 grant to Youngstown TreeCorps, which is a collaborative initiative to plant 250 two-inch caliper shade trees in parks and greenspaces throughout the City of Youngstown in order to restore the urban tree canopy by strengthening existing community-based tree planting efforts.

YNDC COMPLETES GREENING OF 22 VACANT LOTS ALONG THE GREATER GLENWOOD AVENUE CORRIDOR |

YNDC completed the greening of 22 vacant lots along the Greater Glenwood Avenue corridor. The lots previously had asphalt, debris, and other blighting material. YNDC cleaned, graded, seeded, and installed split railing fencing on all of the lots. Trees will be planted in 2023.

On Tuesday, December 27, the John F. Hynes and John D. Finnegan Foundation awarded a $12,500 grant to YNDC for the renovation of 2915 Glenwood Avenue. The funds have been used to renovate the vacant retail plaza into a modern retail facility including the Glenwood Fresh Market, QuickMed Urgent Care, Inspiring Minds Youngstown, Savannah Joe's Restaurant, and Protestant Family Services.

The market, located at 2915 Glenwood Avenue, provides year-round access to FREE fresh fruits, vegetables, and other healthy food items for residents of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley. The market also provides free health screenings, nutrition literacy courses, cooking demonstrations, and other resources to members.
