On February 12, 2025, YNDC and project partners celebrated the completion of phase one of the Bernard Street revitalization project and the start of phase two with a groundbreaking. Phase one of the project included: the assembly of land on the street; clearing of more than 500 cubic yards of debris; installation of new infrastructure: sidewalks, curbing, street paving, and other infrastructure; completion of home repair for existing property owners; construction and sale of three new homes; and preparation of three additional lots. Phase two will include the construction of three additional homes.

The Raymond John Wean Foundation awarded a $600,000 grant to YNDC for 2025. The grant provides support for general operating, neighborhood organizing, and a Community Engagement Fellow.

The Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley awarded a $150,000 grant to the Glenwood Fresh Market.

The market, located at 2915 Glenwood Avenue, provides year-round access to FREE fresh fruits, vegetables, and other healthy food items for residents of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley.

In partnership with the Wean Foundation and the YSU Center for Nonprofit Leadership, YNDC is seeking eligible applicants for a Neighborhood Stabilization Intern. The internship will pay $18 an hour and provide 40 hours per week of work from May through August. Applicants must be a junior, senior, or graduate student at YSU with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and a 3.0 GPA in their major to apply.

YNDC is seeking candidates for a Grass Cutting and Cleanup Team Member Position. Under the direction of the Neighborhood Stabilization Director, the Grass Cutting and Cleanup Team Member will work with a team to implement property maintenance and neighborhood improvement projects including cutting grass, cleaning up/boarding vacant properties, basic construction/landscaping, and other projects to improve the quality of life in Youngstown’s neighborhoods.
